Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between import duty and landed cost?
Import duty is the tariff on the goods. Landed cost adds freight, insurance and federal fees (MPF, HMF) to duty and the goods value — the total to get goods to your door.
Do I always pay MPF and HMF?
MPF applies to most formal entries within a statutory min and max; HMF applies to ocean shipments. The calculator applies both automatically.
Is the estimate binding?
No. It is an estimate for planning. Final duties depend on the CBP determination — confirm with a licensed customs broker.
